Wallace in Man-Skirt Shock

Fashionistas from Milan to New York were hot with anticipation about Wal’s 2008 Range of rambler couture. Never one to shy away from controversy, our style guru’s latest cutting edge statements had them positively agog on the catwalks.

The concept of men in skirts has always caused public unease as Jean-Paul Gaultier and David Beckham can testify. However, Wallace has risked all on his latest exciting trail-skirt range. The fashion press’s reactions have been somewhat mixed to date. Cosmopolitan called it “Breathtakingly liberating … the master at the top of his game”. Vogue were less kind, referring to his uber-trendy blue padded kilt (pictured) as “Julian Clary does Highlander”.

For followers of the great man, it is the dramatic juxtaposition of the kilt with the full-length gaiters that really pushes at the envelope of aesthetic acceptance. With his characteristic penchant for coordinated colours it is the sheer blending of the ensemble into an homogenous entity that so impresses one. Always an afficionado of innovation, Wal is modelling his latest inflatable rucksack showing us how easily it can be inflated on the trails.

Serious Wal-Spotters should note that the man himself will be making a guest appearance on next week’s “How to Look Good Naked” although I have it on good authority that a strategically-placed hip-flask will be covering his modesty.

2007 Range Stuns Milan

Fresh from his guest appearance with Trinny & Suzannah, Wal is modelling the latest in nouveau rambling couture. Purchased from the Tesco Basics fashion collection, this sartorial statement could soon be gracing a fell near you.

Eschewing the rather passé just-below-the-knee gaiter, Wal cuts a striking form with these sexy semi-gaiters designed to make the legs visually longer. The inspiration is obviously from the Jane Fonda Workout school of fashion. Only a style icon can carry this look off so don't assume you will look quite so a-la-mode as Wallace.

Wal has accessorised to perfection with his matching rucksack and Leki stick. Apparently the two-stick look is so-ooo last year and this edgy, asymmetric look is what all fashionistas will be sporting this season on the fells.

Wallace answers your fashion questions including:
a) Should you wear Y-fronts under your Ronhill tights?
b) Socks - over or under the trousers this season?
c) What's under Wallace's kilt?
